PopFul Mail Lair

PopFul Mail is an action RPG made in 1991 on PC-88. It has been released also on Super Famicom (1994), PC-Engine (1994) and on Mega CD.
In this game, you will play female elf Mail and soon after you will meet other playable characters as Tato and Gau.
Each character has different abilities and you must change during the game to overcome puzzles, tricks and monsters through an humouristic and "friendly" story.

Mail is the fighter, so especially good to fight, Tato has magic abilities, and Gau is the more dexterous character and due to his small wings he can jump more far than the other ones. Gau is also good to fight at average distance especially when you get his ultimate weapon, the fire breath.
You get items through the game to help you, like apple to cure your hit points...

You don't need to overcome a lot of fiends during the game since it doesn't have any concept of experience level.(You have a fix amount of life points and you fighting ability is function of the item you equip on each character.)
This game's more concentrated on resolving puzzles and progressing in the story then hack and slash all the time.
It's really fun to play. I would like a sequel to this one...

There is also "drama" Cds of PopFul Mail (PopFul Mail Paradise 1->5 and Poful Mail The Next Generation 1&2).
But I prefer Mail's voice in the PCE version of the game as its seiyuu is Kouda Mariko san which I think her voice suits Mail better.
PopFul Mail PCE characters voices includes also Kamiya Akira san as Blacky.
PCE version has another big interest in three original games levels which are very interesting to play. It has a small story line change where each character are separated in 3 different worlds.
